Our Richmond crew is the same group you’ll see in the trucks around Pecan Grove, Long Meadow Farms, and down FM 359. We’re not a rotating cast of subcontractors. Carl Dutton, Owner
I started Mainspring in 1984, naming it for the torsion spring that carries every pound of a door’s weight. That’s still the part I notice first when I walk up to a job. After 42 years in this trade, I’ve seen doors installed by craftsmen and doors installed by people having a real bad day. The difference is usually in the details someone skipped. I still ride with the crew when a job gets complicated, and I still answer the phone myself some nights. The 90-Day Done Right Promise isn’t marketing language. It’s written on every invoice because I got tired of hearing other companies argue with their customers. We don’t do that here. If it’s not right, we come back. No paperwork, no dispute.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with us for 14 years and handles the calls that make other techs pause: double-spring failures on 18-foot custom doors, opener logic boards fried by Richmond’s summer voltage spikes, cables that have chewed through their drums in the humidity. He’s factory-certified on LiftMaster, Genie, and Wayne Dalton systems, and he keeps a notebook of every oddball repair he’s seen in Fort Bend County. Off the clock, he restores vintage motorcycles in a garage he built himself. That same patience shows up in his work. He doesn’t read from a script. He asks the right questions, gives you a real arrival window, and stays on the line if you need to explain something twice. Before he joined us, he dispatch for a plumbing outfit, so he’s heard every emergency description in the book. Garage doors are simpler. He likes that about the work.
Jesse P., Apprentice Technician
Jesse started with us in 2023 after a stint in HVAC and a welding certificate from Wharton County Junior College. He’s still in his first thousand service calls, which means he asks questions the senior techs stopped asking years ago. Sometimes that catches something everyone else assumed. He’s currently working under Marcus toward his journeyman certification, with a focus on Raynor and Craftsman opener systems. He lives in Rosenberg and knows the older Richmond subdivisions where the original doors are hitting 25 years all at once. He’s the one who points out when a customer’s rollers are original to a 1998 install and still running on bare steel. That eye will serve him well.
